Comprehending Text Using Literal, Inferential & Applied Questioning, Year 2

Use texts from multiple genres to support close reading and comprehension in the classroom. Twenty different texts from a variety of genres are presented in five-page units. The activities support close reading comprehension and are designed to encourage students to examine content thoroughly and analytically. Each passage is followed by three levels of questioning – literal, inferential and applied, to determine the reader’s comprehension of the text. Every unit includes a page dedicated to applying a comprehension strategy.
