Steve Hargadon is the director of Web 2.0 Labs and host of the Future of Education interview series. He is the creator and organizer of a collection of worldwide virtual conferences that include the annual Global Education Conference and Library 2.0 Future of Libraries conference, which help to build community, connections, and learning opportunities for teachers, students, administrators, and families. His networks and events draw over one hundred thousand participants annually.
Steve pioneered the use of social networking in education by creating the Classroom 2.0 social network in 2007, and he has supported and encouraged the development of thousands of other education networks, particularly for professional development. He is the cohost of the annual Edublog Awards, was the former emerging technologies chair for the International Society for Technology in Education, and was the recipient of the Computer-Using Educators’ 2010 Technology in Learning Leadership Award. He has consulted for PBS, Intel, Ning, Blackboard, Microsoft, KnowledgeWorks Foundation, CoSN, MERLOT, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Education, and other organizations and institutions on educational technology and specifically on social networking.
