Sonya Mackenzie

Sonya Mackenzie has spent over 20 years working in the field of education. Her professional work during the past 12 years has largely focused on building leadership and individual staff capacity with an explicit focus on self-directedness across various organisational levels.

Focus areas: Cognitive Coaching, Professional Learning Communities.

Sonya’s specialties include leadership, peer coaching, team development, emotional and social intelligence. Sonya’s recent senior executive roles have included: Charles Darwin University, Director of Professional Standards; Northern Territory Department of Education, Senior Manager Phases of Learning and Regional Mentor Capacity Building; The Centre for School Leadership Darwin and Cognitive Coaching Training Associate. 

Sonya holds a Bachelor of Education: Further Education and Training from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Charles Darwin University, Australia. She is currently completing a Masters of Education International. Sonya is also a member of both the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the Emotional Intelligence Teaching and Research Institute (EITRI). She is co-author of the book, “Economic Productivity and Global Education: A Critique”.
