The New Art and Science of Teaching is a powerful framework of substantive change based on Dr Robert J Marzano’s 50 years of education research. In all, the framework identifies more than 330 specific instructional strategies you can use to improve student performance at every year level. Level 1: Foundations (1-day workshops and events)
Workshops (1 day)
This interactive and engaging workshop is designed to introduce and extend participants' knowledge of The New Art and Science of Teaching instructional framework. All participants will consider Dr Robert J Marzano’s recommendations that, when enacted, can transform the nature of F-12 schooling.
Participants will:
- Walk away with a deep understanding of effective learning and teaching
- Learn the structure of The New Art and Science of Teaching model, including the 3 categories, 10 design questions and 43 elements
- Experience and explore practical strategies for a variety of elements within the framework
- Develop an action plan for implementation
In-School Support (1 day)
Strengthen understandings and refine practice when applying The New Art and Science of Teaching instructional framework in your school. Hawker Brownlow Education training associates are certified to provide your staff with contextualised in-school support. In-school support provides schools with highly skilled practitioners who facilitate high levels of dialogue with teams to clarify, analyse and plan how to achieve implementation goals and priorities. This support includes personalised online coaching and mentoring to guide your school forward.
Webinars
Engage in a 90-minute online webinar presented by local and global experts and authors. Develop your insights on school improvement efforts, including what to be aware of and what to avoid in order to ensure The New Art and Science of Teaching framework works for you. Webinars can be tailored to your school or system's needs with specific questions and content as required..
Keynote

The Marzano High Reliability Schools Summit, incorporating The New Art & Science of Teaching is the leading school transformation event for F–12 educators. The summit’s keynotes, breakout sessions and resources translate Dr Robert J Marzano’s 50 years of research into practical strategies attendees can use to significantly advance student achievement.
In-School Support (2 or more days)

The New Art and Science of Teaching Academy
This four-day academy is based on the practice of action research. It provides schools and their staff the opportunity to:
- Increase their understanding of and ability to use the research-based instructional strategies in The New Art and Science of Teaching
- Establish networking and support systems to implement strategies
- Set up action research to document and respond to results of implementation
- Utilise the results of action research to inform practice and develop a model of instruction for their school
- Develop leadership capacity needed for successful implementation
