Julie Canham

Julie Canham is the principal of Woodridge State School in Queensland. Over the past 20 years, she has served as a teacher, literacy coach, regional school improvement officer, deputy principal and principal.

Focus areas: Response to Intervention, Professional Learning Communities, Collaborative Teams That Transform Schools.

In her work as an educational consultant, she supports system educational leaders, school leaders and leadership teams in the effective development and delivery of a range of professional learning programs, with a focus on building individual staff capacity and high-performing teams.

In recent years, Julie has led the development and implementation of the PLC model at Shailer Park State School. Julie’s passion and commitment to PLCs, along with her on-the-ground experience in developing an effective PLC model, have helped her connect with school leaders and provide relevant, local examples of how PLCs can work in an Australian context. As a result of her leadership and collaborative work with the school community, Shailer Park State School became the first recognised model PLC in Queensland.
