Jeff Flygare has served as a classroom teacher, professional development presenter, and English language arts specialist. He led the movement to a standards-based education for Academy School District 20 in Colorado.
Jeff helped develop a secondary standards-based curriculum at the building and district levels, including an innovative online English language arts curriculum, and has served as coordinator of gifted and talented programs in his building.
In 2010, he received a Teacher Recognition Award from the US Department of Education Presidential Scholars Program. An active member of the National Council of Teachers of English throughout his career, he was inducted into the Colorado Academy for Educators of the Gifted, Talented, and Creative in 1993. After teaching Advanced Placement English for over 20 years, he has served as an AP Reader for Educational Testing Service for many years.
Jeff received a bachelor of arts degree in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo and holds two master of arts degrees: one in special (gifted) education from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and one in English literature from the University of Colorado Denver.
