Dr Douglas Fisher is professor of language and literacy education in the Department of Teacher Education at San Diego State University. Alongside his frequent collaborator, Dr Nancy Frey, Doug is a published author and international presenter on topics including literacy, guided instruction and response to intervention. In addition, he has written numerous articles on differentiated instruction and curriculum design.
Doug holds a bachelor's degree in communication, a master's degree in public health, an executive master's degree in business and a doctoral degree in multicultural education. He has also completed post-doctoral study at America's National Association of State Boards of Education, focusing on standards-based reforms.
Doug received an International Reading Association Celebrate Literacy Award for his work on literacy leadership. For his work as codirector of the City Heights Professional Development Schools, he was awarded the Christa McAuliffe award.
