Across the Curriculum

Hawker Brownlow Education publish a dynamic range of titles for every key subject area – Maths, Science, English, SOSE, ICT and Languages Other Than English (LOTE) – as well as more specialised areas such as assessment, study skills and English as a Second Language (ESL). You will notice that most titles are not developed specifically for any curriculum; rather, each is designed to be easily integrated into your existing program.

The growing emphasis on student-centred education has been embraced by dedicated early and middleand senior years educators who need to implement new strategies to build a positive community for learning. Hawker Brownlow provides a range of materials to help teachers gain a greater understanding of early and middle years philosophy and research, as well as useable, hands-on materials and methods to help teachers become more effective in the classroom.

Early Childhood through to Middle Years
Early childhood and middle years educators have long been advocates of child-centred classrooms which encourage choice and conversation. They structure concrete, hands-on activities which are process oriented. They pay particular attention to structuring a stimulating environment and functioning as a guide rather than the director.

Research has shown that the adolescent years are as important in a person’s development as infancy. Young adolescents have unique needs and interests, and the better we understand them, the better we are able to help them to grow. Early adolescents strive to be different from adults while simultaneously looking to adults as the role models needed for guidance and support.

Hawker Brownlow understands the importance of incorporating not just content, but strategies for teaching in our resources. We believe in ‘making a difference’, which is why our material is effectively different, reflecting high-activity interest and incorporating resources to differentiate learning and curricula from early childhood to the senior years.

Home Schooling and Homework Booklets
Hawker Brownlow Education provides curriculum-based materials to ensure your children complete all the required areas of the curriculum while learning at home. Our flexible and differentiated materials allow you to structure your resources and learning environment to suit your own children. Homework booklets can be used as reinforcement of basic skills or extension for students looking for a challenge.
